Motorcycle rider dies during Oliver’s Mount race in Scarborough

A tragic incident occurred at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough on Saturday when a motorcycle rider lost his life during a race, North Yorkshire Police have confirmed. The rider, a man in his 30s, was taking part in the Bob Smith Spring Cup event when he crashed on his Kawasaki motorcycle at approximately 15:20 BST.

Emergency services attended the scene immediately, but unfortunately, the rider was pronounced dead at the location. Authorities are now reaching out to spectators who were present at the event and have not yet spoken to the police, urging them to provide any information that might assist with the ongoing investigation.

A police spokesperson appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant social media footage to come forward, stating, “If you witnessed the incident or have any information or social media footage that may assist the investigation, please contact us.” They also expressed condolences to the family, saying, “The man’s family are aware and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

Oliver’s Mount is known as England’s only natural road racing circuit and is situated just outside Scarborough town centre. The 2.43-mile track is often described as a smaller version of the famous TT course, characterized by its challenging, tight, and twisty layout along the coastal landscape
