Leicestershire Police were alerted around 13:35 BST to the southbound side of the M1 following a report involving a blue car that had apparently left Gilmorton Lane, heading towards Lutterworth, before ending up on the motorway. The teenagers inside this vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver and three passengers of the minibus sustained injuries described by authorities as non-life-threatening and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Further updates from the police indicated that the minibus driver, a man, has since been discharged from the hospital. However, three female passengers remain under medical care as of the latest information. The police are continuing their investigation, which includes forensic examinations at the site of the crash.
