Kanye West offers to meet Jewish community in UK after Wireless controversy

The rapper formerly known as Kanye West, now going by Ye, issued a statement addressing the controversy surrounding his planned headline performance at the upcoming Wireless Festival in London. He expressed that he had been “following the conversation around Wireless and want to address it directly.” Ye emphasized his intention to bring people together through his music, stating, “My only goal is to come to London and present a show of change, bringing unity, peace, and love through my music.”

In his statement, Ye also extended an offer to engage directly with community members, saying he is willing “to listen” and acknowledging that “words aren’t enough – I’ll have to show change through my actions. However, Jewish organizations have voiced their disapproval of Benn’s stance. Phil Rosenberg, president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, commented that the festival director’s support “will not reassure many within the Jewish or other communities.” Additionally, the UK government is currently reviewing whether Ye, who is 48 years old, should be granted entry into the country given the circumstances. The situation continues to develop as authorities and event organizers navigate the complex public response
