A shift in the weather is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday as south-easterly winds gain strength, bringing much warmer air from across the European continent. This change will result in temperatures rising well above the normal levels typically seen in early April.
On Tuesday, many areas will experience highs reaching into the high teens and low twenties Celsius. In particular, parts of the south Midlands and the west coast of Wales could see temperatures climb to around 22°C, marking the warmest day recorded so far this year. This surpasses the previous record of 20.9°C set on March 31st in Pershore, Worcestershire.
The day will generally be sunny, especially throughout England and Wales. However, the weather in Northern Ireland and western Scotland will be cloudier, with some scattered showers possible. Moving into Wednesday, temperatures are forecast to increase further, with southern and southeastern England potentially hitting 23°C or even 24°C.
Sunshine is expected to continue through much of England and Wales on Wednesday, making the warmth feel very much like a typical summer day. Conversely, western parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and areas along the Irish Sea coast will experience a downturn in conditions, as cloud cover thickens and rain moves in later in the afternoon, leading to cooler temperatures in these regions
