Firefighters from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) are currently responding to a fire at a large hay shed located in County Down. The structure serves as shelter for approximately 300 sheep. The emergency call was received at 21:03 BST, prompting a swift response.
Crews from several nearby stations, including Banbridge, Dromore, and Lurgan, have deployed five water pumps to the scene. In addition to firefighting appliances, a water tanker and an animal rescue team are present to assist with the situation and the welfare of the animals.
The incident remains active as fire crews continue their efforts to control the blaze. Given the scale of the fire and the number of animals housed in the shed, responders are working diligently to manage both the fire and the safety of the sheep.
