Little Smiles For Everyone: A free, sensory-friendly Easter holiday activity for children and families

Families throughout the Liverpool City Region are invited to participate in the upcoming event, Little Smiles For Everyone, held at Liverpool Central Library. This free, sensory-friendly event is designed to provide children with an enjoyable and educational experience during the Easter school holidays. It offers a wonderful opportunity for kids to engage in activities that promote oral health in a fun and accessible way.

Born from a collaboration involving Liverpool City Council, the University of Liverpool, and other local partners, Little Smiles For Everyone aims to help families increase their confidence in supporting children’s oral hygiene practices, including supervised toothbrushing. The event focuses on combining learning with play, ensuring that the experience is both informative and entertaining.

Specifically tailored to accommodate children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), the event features sensory-friendly activities within a calm and inclusive environment. Nonetheless, it welcomes all children and families to attend. Scheduled for Thursday, 2 April 2026, the event will run from 11am to 3pm in the Children’s Room at Liverpool Central Library, allowing families to drop in at their convenience throughout the day.

During the event, attendees will find various activities designed to encourage healthy habits in a positive setting. These include demonstrations on toothbrushing techniques, personalized oral health advice from dental professionals, and interactive sensory games. Participants will also be able to take home toothbrush packs and educational materials to help continue healthy routines beyond the event itself. By combining hands-on learning with informal dental expertise, Little Smiles For Everyone seeks to reduce dental care anxiety while fostering enjoyable health practices.

This initiative is part of a broader community legacy connected to the European Association of Paediatric Dentistry Congress, which will take place at ACC Liverpool from 1-4 July 2026. This international congress gathers pediatric dental experts from across the globe to exchange knowledge, with a focus on enhancing children’s oral health. Supporting community-driven projects like Little Smiles is part of the Congress’s commitment to generating a lasting, positive impact beyond the conference.

Little Smiles For Everyone has the backing of various organizations including The University of Liverpool, ACC Liverpool, the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, Public Health Liverpool, Liverpool City Council Neighbourhood Team, Liverpool Central Library, the LFC Foundation, Everton in the Community, and Alder Hey Children’s Charity. The combined efforts of these partners help ensure the event is inclusive, informative, and enjoyable for all families who attend
