Authorities have detained a 36-year-old man from Derby, originally from India, on suspicion of multiple offenses, including attempted murder. Derbyshire Police have extended the time they can question the suspect while they continue to investigate the case. In addition to attempted murder, he is being held on allegations of causing serious injury through dangerous driving, inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, and dangerous driving.
Although counter-terrorism units have been involved in the investigation, police have clarified that their engagement is standard procedure for such incidents, and the case is not currently being treated as terrorism-related.
