Pilning NHS doctor charged with inciting support for Hamas

Dr. Rahmeh Aladwan, an NHS doctor, has been formally charged with inciting support for the banned organization Hamas. The 31-year-old British Palestinian was apprehended by the Metropolitan Police at her residence in Pilning, South Gloucestershire. Authorities indicated that her arrest was connected to alleged violations of bail conditions that were set after earlier detentions.

Following her arrest, Dr. Aladwan was transported to a police station in central London, where she faced multiple charges. These include four counts of inciting support for Hamas and two additional offences. The charges pertain to activities between 23 July and 31 December 2025, specifically involving online material or statements, according to the police.

Authorities confirmed that Dr. Aladwan has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday. Alongside the incitement allegations, she is charged with distributing or publishing written material and using language that was threatening, abusive, or insulting. This language is said to have the potential, or was recklessly intended, to provoke racial hatred, violating the Public Order Act 1986.

The case highlights serious concerns related to online speech and the enforcement of public order legislation. Dr. Aladwan’s upcoming court appearance will be an important next step in this ongoing legal matter
