Anna Friel, known for her roles in shows like *Brookside*, *Pushing Daisies*, and *Marcella*, will portray Claudia Winkleman in a sketch for this year’s Comic Relief event. She will be joined by recent cast members from *The Traitors*, including Rachel Duffy and Faraaz Noor. This sketch, titled *The Traitors: The Movie – The Sequel*, follows the popularity of the 2024 original installment which featured stars such as Catherine Tate, Asim Chaudhry, Iain Stirling, and Suranne Jones.
Iain Stirling reprises his role as joint winner Stephen Libby from *The Traitors*, appearing alongside celebrities including Scott Mills and Alison Steadman, who will confront the actual contestants they represent. Among other highlights in the *Comic Relief: Funny for Money* show are a bank heist sketch featuring Idris Elba in his role as Luther and a comedic take on the series *Amandaland*, which will showcase several well-known individuals named Amanda. Musical performances are also part of the night’s lineup, with singer-songwriter Calum Scott among those performing.
The *The Traitors* parody will include TV personality Vicky Pattison as joint winner Rachel, while DJ Scott Mills takes on the role of James. Amanda Redman will appear as Amanda, Alison Steadman from *Gavin and Stacey* will portray Fiona, and singer and radio host Fleur East will play Roxy. Soap star and *Strictly Come Dancing* participant Lewis Cope will act as Jack, and Jessica Hynes, known for *Paddington* and *Bridget Jones*, will play Harriet. The sketch promises a revisit of memorable moments from the fourth series, with Ruby Wax humorously credited as director, although the actual production is led by Ed Bye, who is married to Wax.
In addition to the sketches, Davina McCall will host the evening, accompanied by comedians Katherine Ryan, Nick Mohammed, Joel Dommett, and Catherine Tate, who will reprise her role as Nan from *The Catherine Tate Show*. The comedy series *Amandaland* receives a special adaptation called *Amandas-land*, where Lucy Punch’s titular character, together with her friend Anne (played by Philippa Dunne), navigate a live radio interview with Sara Cox at BBC Broadcasting House. The chaotic interaction includes encounters with several famous Amandas, including Amanda Holden, Amanda Lamb, and Amanda Barrie. Other sketches include *The Bank Job*, which stars ITV presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary and features Idris Elba. Additional performers taking part in the heist sequence are Chris McCausland, Stephen Mulhern, Shona McGarty, Niko Omilana, Gladiator’s Sabre, and Natalie Cassidy.
*Comic Relief* has a long history, with the first Red Nose Day held in 1988 raising £15 million and attracting over 30 million viewers. Founded in 1985 by filmmaker Richard Curtis and comedian Sir Lenny Henry, the charity has hosted 21 telethons over the years and raised more than £1.6 billion to date. Fundraising often involves celebrities taking on challenging feats; this year, BBC Radio 1’s Greg James is participating in a 630-mile tandem bike ride, concluding in Edinburgh. The *Comic Relief: Funny for Money* show will be broadcast live from MediaCityUK in Salford on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Friday, 20 March from 19:00 GMT, and for the first time will also be streamed live on the official BBC YouTube channel
