Three men killed in Illingworth crash

Authorities in West Yorkshire have confirmed that three young men lost their lives following a serious car accident that occurred on Wednesday evening in Illingworth. The victims, two aged 22 and one aged 21, succumbed to their injuries sustained in the collision. Additionally, another 21-year-old male involved in the crash remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The incident involved three vehicles: a white Ford Fiesta, a blue BMW, and an unoccupied Renault Clio parked nearby. The crash took place around 18:50 GMT at the intersection of Keighley Road and Cobblestones Drive. Police revealed that the three men who died and the injured passenger were all occupants of the Ford Fiesta, while those in the blue BMW were subsequently arrested.

Following the accident, a 37-year-old man and two women aged 18 and 32, all residents of Halifax, were detained on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They are currently being held in custody as investigations continue. Meanwhile, Keighley Road remains closed as police carry out detailed inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Det Sgt Paul Lightowler described the event as a “tragic incident” and made an appeal for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward to aid the investigation. He also expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the people who died.” He added that specially trained officers are providing support to the families affected during this difficult time. Local resident Julie Farmer, who lives nearby, recounted hearing a loud explosion-like noise and seeing numerous emergency responders at the scene. She emphasized concerns about speeding on the road, suggesting that safety measures such as speed bumps should be considered to prevent future accidents
