Saturday Night Live UK: Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan and Riz Ahmed named as hosts

The new British adaptation of Saturday Night Live has announced its first three hosts: Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Riz Ahmed. Tina Fey, who has extensive experience with the American version of the sketch show as a writer, actor, and host, will open the series on 21 March. She will be accompanied by indie band Wet Leg, who will perform as the musical guest.

Following Fey’s episode, Jamie Dornan—known for his performances in Fifty Shades of Grey and The Tourist—will take on hosting duties a week later. His episode will feature a live performance by the Brit-award winning band Wolf Alice. The third episode in the lineup will be hosted by Riz Ahmed, recognized for his acting in Four Lions, with rock group Kasabian providing the music.

This six-part series, titled Saturday Night Live UK, is set to air live from London every Saturday at 22:00 on Sky. It represents the first British version of the iconic sketch show, originally created by Lorne Michaels and launched in the United States in 1975. The UK edition will maintain the familiar format, including a 75-minute runtime per episode with an opening monologue, topical sketches, a live musical performance, and a weekly satirical news segment called Weekend Update.

The show’s initial cast consists of a mix of UK comedians and entertainers: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young. Each episode’s content will be written and rehearsed during the week leading up to the live performance in front of a studio audience. The writing team includes Charlie Skelton, known for his work on 8 Out of 10 Cats, comedian and actor Al Roberts from Stath Lets Flats, and Bella Hull from Have I Got News For You
