Boy charged over stabbing of teen girl at school near Norwich

A 15-year-old male student has been formally charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident at Thorpe St Andrew School, a secondary school located near Norwich in Norfolk. During the lockdown, pupils were instructed to turn off their mobile phones and take cover by hiding under desks, according to reports. Armed police were deployed to the site, with one pupil capturing an image showing an armed officer at a classroom doorway.

Norfolk Police confirmed that the 15-year-old boy was apprehended and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. In addition to the attempted murder charge, he faces a charge of possession of a knife on school premises. Legal restrictions prevent naming the accused.

Thorpe St Andrew School, which educates over 1,800 students, reopened the following day. Principal Penny Bignell emphasized that any students feeling unprepared to return to school would receive appropriate support. To provide reassurance to the community, Norfolk Police announced they will maintain an increased presence with officers stationed at the school and in the surrounding area in the days ahead
