The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has initiated an inquiry into whether RAF bases were utilized by Jeffrey Epstein. This investigation aims to scrutinize records and emails to determine if the late convicted sex offender landed his private jet on military sites during visits to the UK. Defence Secretary John Healey is reported to have directed officials to methodically examine all evidence to uncover any possible links.
An MoD insider emphasized a commitment to thoroughly pursue all relevant information connected to the matter, stating the department will “ruthlessly pursue any information that can shed light on this scandal.” The inquiry follows calls from former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who has urged a police probe into whether Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor used RAF bases to meet Epstein. Brown has provided several UK police forces, including the Metropolitan, Sussex, and Thames Valley police, with a five-page dossier containing new evidence based on Epstein-related documents recently released in the United States.
Concerns have been raised about a specific flight in December 2000 involving Epstein’s Gulfstream jet, which reportedly landed at RAF Marham in Norfolk. This airbase is located approximately 20 miles from the Sandringham Estate. A BBC News investigation last year uncovered that around 90 flights connected to Epstein had landed at or departed from airports in the UK, some carrying British women who later claimed abuse. The Ministry of Defence previously explained that the use of RAF airfields by private or commercial aircraft was a common practice, provided fees covered operational costs.
Mountbatten-Windsor has denied any involvement in wrongdoing concerning Epstein. The MoD spokesperson reiterated that the Defence Secretary has ordered a detailed review of all documents pertaining to Epstein’s flights to RAF bases, with the aim of sharing any pertinent findings with the appropriate authorities. The ministry also pledged full cooperation with civilian police inquiries and expressed sympathy for Epstein’s victims. Meanwhile, Stansted Airport stated that its private flight terminals operate independently of the main airport and clarified that Border Force is responsible for immigration and customs checks for private jet passengers, emphasizing that the airport does not manage or monitor passenger arrangements on private aircraft
