Authorities have made two arrests related to the case of Lisa Dorrian, who disappeared and was murdered at the age of 25. The investigation has seen a significant development with the detention of a 40-year-old woman in Bangor, County Down, on Wednesday. Subsequently, a 42-year-old man was also arrested in Scotland on multiple suspicions, including murder, assisting offenders, withholding information, and preventing a lawful and decent burial.
Lisa Dorrian was last seen at a house party held at a caravan park in Ballyhalbert, a village in County Down, towards the end of February 2005. Police have noted the valuable assistance received from Police Scotland and the PSNI’s Cross-Border Transit Officers in facilitating the arrest made in Scotland. The collaboration between forces underscores the cross-jurisdictional nature of the ongoing investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Kerrie Foreman reflected on the long and painful wait endured by Lisa’s family: “It’s almost 21 years since Lisa’s disappearance and murder. That’s 21 years of torture for a loving family.” She expressed a strong desire to encourage anyone who may have information about the case to come forward and support the investigation by doing the right thing. Foreman emphasized the police’s commitment to securing justice for Lisa and her family.
Police believe that Lisa was murdered either on the night of February 27, 2005, or in the early hours of the next day. The PSNI have renewed their appeal, seeking any information from the public that might assist in resolving this case. Those with details relevant to the investigation are urged to contact the police to help bring closure to Lisa’s family
