Bafta Film Awards 2026: Who's nominated, how to watch and everything else you need to know

The 2026 Bafta Film Awards are set to take place this Sunday in London, marking a major event in the British film industry calendar. Hollywood’s elite will gather at the Royal Festival Hall for what promises to be a glamorous evening celebrating outstanding cinematic achievements. Actor and presenter Alan Cumming will host the ceremony, taking over from David Tennant, who led the event for the previous two years. UK viewers can watch the awards live on BBC One and iPlayer from 19:00 GMT, although the ceremony itself begins at 17:00, meaning results may circulate on social media prior to the broadcast. In the United States, E! will air the show starting at 20:00 ET.

Leading the nominations this year is Paul Thomas Anderson’s darkly comic political thriller *One Battle After Another*, which received 14 nods. Close behind is Ryan Coogler’s vampire horror *Sinners*, along with *Hamnet*, a Shakespeare-based drama, and *Marty Supreme*, the biopic about table tennis. Among the frontrunners in the acting categories, Jessie Buckley of *Hamnet* is favored to win best actress, while Timothée Chalamet is tipped to take best actor for his performance in *Marty Supreme*. Other notable contenders for best actor include Leonardo DiCaprio (*One Battle After Another*), Michael B. Jordan (*Sinners*), Ethan Hawke (*Blue Moon*), Robert Aramayo (*I Swear*), and Jesse Plemons (*Bugonia*).

The British film scene has strong representation, especially in the supporting acting categories. Robert Aramayo is the sole British nominee in the lead acting categories for his role in *I Swear*, a biopic about Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson. Aramayo is also nominated for the EE Bafta Rising Star award. Supporting actress nominees include Wunmi Mosaku (*Sinners*), Emily Watson (*Hamnet*), and Carey Mulligan (*The Ballad of Wallis Island*), while Peter Mullan is nominated for best supporting actor alongside international talents such as Stellan Skarsgård (*Sentimental Value*) and Benicio Del Toro (*One Battle After Another*). The Baftas also spotlight UK filmmakers through categories like outstanding British film and debut by a British writer, director, or producer, with films such as *28 Days Later*, *Hamnet*, and *The Ballad of Wallis Island* earning recognition.

The awards ceremony sometimes serves as a bellwether for the Oscars, with many Bafta acting winners going on to claim the same prizes at the Academy Awards. Over the past two years, every Bafta acting winner matched their success at the Oscars. Historically, 13 of the last 15 Bafta best actor winners and 10 of the last 12 best actress winners have repeated their victories in Hollywood. This year’s event will also feature musical performances by the K-Pop group Huntr/X, performing their track “Golden” from the animated film *KPop Demon Hunters*, as well as Jessie Ware performing during the In Memoriam tribute. Presenters will include a diverse lineup of actors and artists such as Aimee Lou Wood, Bryan Cranston, Cillian Murphy, Riz Ahmed, and Michael B. Jordan. Additionally, the Bafta Fellowship will honor British-born Dame Donna Langley, chairwoman of NBCUniversal Entertainment, for her distinguished contributions to the industry
