Passengers hurt as tram derailed in Chilwell bus crash

A tram derailed following a collision with a bus, resulting in several passengers receiving treatment for minor injuries. The incident occurred on Inham Road in Chilwell, Nottinghamshire, on Thursday morning. Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that all passengers were accounted for and that those injured were attended to at the scene.

Nottingham City Transport reported significant delays on the Orange 36 bus route due to the crash. Meanwhile, Nottingham Express Transit (NET) announced a suspension of tram services between Toton Lane and Bramcote Lane as a result of the disruption.

Emergency crews were present at the scene to manage the situation, with the road expected to stay closed for an extended period. NET provided updates on social media, stating that they could not serve any stops on Inham Road or Field Lane and that buses would be rerouted through Bramcote Lane, School Lane, High Road, and then resume the regular route from Cator Lane.

Sgt Nicola Thomas of Nottinghamshire Police remarked that Inham Road would likely remain shut for the rest of the day while investigations and vehicle recovery efforts continue. She added, “While the incident has caused disruption this morning, there have been no reports of any serious injuries and the scene is now being made safe.” Authorities advised drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes
