A woman described as a “skilled butcher” has been convicted of murdering her partner, dismembering the body, and burying the remains in a garden over 15 years ago. The victim, Izabela Zablocka, was initially reported missing in 2010. Her remains were eventually uncovered buried in a garden on Princes Street in Derby on 1 June 2025.
The case unfolded at Derby Crown Court, where it was revealed that the accused, 40-year-old Anna Podedworna from Boyer Street, Derby, had contacted Derbyshire Police the previous year to disclose the location of the body. Prosecutor Gordon Aspden KC explained that increasing pressure led Podedworna to “crack” and send an email to the police after a Polish television journalist came to the UK to interview her.
During the trial, the jury learned that Zablocka and Podedworna had moved to the UK together from Poland, living in the Normanton area of Derby. The prosecution presented evidence showing that Izabela made a phone call to her mother in Poland on 28 Au
