Willesden stabbing: Arrest after woman dies in busy street

A 50-year-old woman tragically lost her life after being stabbed on a street in north-west London, prompting the police to arrest a suspect in connection with the incident. The event took place on Pound Lane in Willesden during the afternoon of Saturday, where emergency responders arrived following reports of the attack.

Upon reaching the location at around 4 pm GMT, paramedics discovered the injured woman and made efforts to save her, but she was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later apprehended a 30-year-old man the same day on suspicion of murder. Police have indicated that the suspect was known to the victim and that he remains in custody as investigations continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford, who is overseeing the inquiry, emphasized that the attack appears to be an isolated case with no indication of a broader threat to the public. She also expressed gratitude toward members of the public who provided first aid and contacted emergency services after witnessing the incident. Woodsford stated, “Our priority is to establish the circumstances surrounding what happened. However, based on our enquiries so far, there is nothing to suggest any wider risk to the public.”

Additionally, Detective Superintendent Tony Bellis, responsible for policing in the Brent area, described the event as “tragic and deeply concerning,” extending condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and all affected by the situation. To offer reassurance, local officers will maintain an increased presence in the vicinity and engage with witnesses or anyone possessing relevant information
