Efforts to locate a seven-year-old girl who went missing after being swept into the sea have been disrupted by stormy weather, according to a Member of Parliament. The child’s parents, Zubair and Tasneem Makda, were also knocked into the water, resulting in them losing sight of their daughter.
Adnan Hussain, the MP for Blackburn, shared that the Moroccan ambassador has assured him of taking all necessary actions to support the local authorities in the search for Inaayah Makda. He explained that adverse weather conditions have slowed down the rescue operation, and the Foreign Office has appealed to Moroccan officials to assign a dedicated police liaison officer to offer immediate assistance to the family.
Hussain also noted that the governor of Casablanca confirmed the Moroccan civil protection team is actively on site and will maintain constant communication with the Foreign Office. He expressed his gratitude towards the Blackburn community for their collective support and solidarity during this difficult period for Inaayah’s family.
The incident occurred on the first night of the family’s week-long holiday. A relative, who wished to remain anonymous, described how the tide seemed far out when they arrived but rapidly rose within about 20 minutes, unexpectedly putting them in danger.
