Two teenagers in court charged with murder of boy in Guildford

Two teenage boys have been charged in connection with the death of a 15-year-old who was fatally stabbed in a park. The incident took place in a wooded area of Stoke Park, located off Lido Road in Guildford, where Surrey Police responded to reports of a stabbing on Monday evening.

The defendants, aged 15 and 16, cannot be named due to their ages. They face charges including murder and conspiracy to rob the victim, who has been identified by the police as Luis Gabriel Guembes. Both teens also face allegations of carrying a bladed weapon in a public place.

The two boys appeared separately at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday. Police confirmed that despite efforts from members of the public and paramedics who came to the scene, Luis was pronounced dead at the location. Following the hearing, Judge Julie Cooper informed the 16-year-old defendant that the case could not be handled in youth court and that it would be transferred to Guildford Crown Court.

Both teenagers remain in youth custody pending their next court appearance, scheduled for Monday at Guildford Crown Court. The investigation continues as authorities work to address the circumstances surrounding the tragic event
