Barron Trump called UK police after seeing woman 'beat up', court hears

Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, reportedly alerted UK authorities after witnessing a friend allegedly being assaulted during a video call. According to court proceedings, Barron, who is 19 years old, reached out to emergency services by having his friends in the US dial 999 to report the attack, which allegedly occurred in London in January 2025.

The individual currently on trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court is Matvei Rumiantsev, 22, who faces multiple charges including assault, two counts of rape, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice related to the same incident. He has denied all allegations, including pressure on the alleged victim to retract her complaints. The victim’s identity remains protected for legal reasons.

The court was informed that Barron Trump made the call to police shortly after a video call on 18 January, during which he said he saw the alleged victim being attacked. The emergency operator’s transcript quotes Barron saying, “I’m calling from the US, uh I just got a call from a girl, you know, she’s getting beat up,” and describing the situation as an emergency. When asked about his connection to the victim, Barron reportedly stated, “I don’t think these details matter, she’s getting beat up but OK fine, also I met her on social media, I don’t think that matters.” Subsequently, he provided a witness statement describing the brief but disturbing view of the alleged assault, recounting how a “shirtless man with darkish hair” appeared on screen before the victim was seen crying and being hit.

Regarding the defendant, Matvei Rumiantsev denies all charges that span from November 2024 to January 2025. The prosecution claims he strangled the victim on the evening of 17 January 2025, after which the woman reported the incident to police, leading to his arrest the following morning. During his testimony, Rumiantsev described the night as one of drinking and consensual sex but said that a later argument resulted in the victim becoming “completely hysterical, crying, screaming, shouting.” He maintained that any physical contact was in self-defense to prevent her from striking him. Notably, Rumiantsev mentioned answering a “face call” from Barron Trump on the victim’s phone, though he could not explain why he did so.

The trial also revealed details about the relationship dynamics between Rumiantsev and the alleged victim. He recounted a disagreement in November 2024 connected to her friendship with Barron Trump, expressing feelings of upset but insisting he was not controlling. Rumiantsev explained his attempts to communicate how he felt about her communications with others, saying, “if she feels unwell seeing messages I had with girls 10 years ago, she could maybe understand how I felt when she was sat there this moment texting someone else.” The proceedings are ongoing
