Avril Davidge, aged 93, described her experience as feeling like royalty, hardly able to believe what was happening to her. Having never traveled to the United States before, not having flown on a plane for three decades, and seldom venturing outside her apartment, the trip was an extraordinary event in her life.
Her journey was sparked by discovering a folk parade in Philadelphia through a YouTube video. Captivated by the tradition, Avril decided to embark on a long journey of 3,400 miles to witness the event in person. This decision was remarkable given her usual lifestyle and limited travels.
Avril, who experienced the loss of her husband Clifford in 2023, shared that attending the parade brought a genuine smile back to her face. She said the uplifting experience provided emotional healing, offering her comfort beyond what any doctor or medication could achieve.
