Climate learning gets a boost from dragons

A UK-based educational technology company has successfully attracted investment from several Dragons’ Den investors by showcasing an innovative AI-powered game designed to teach climate change concepts. This startup aims to bring interactive climate education directly into schools.

Brainspark Games, founded by entrepreneur Reedah El Saie, impressed three Dragons—Sara Davies, Deborah Meaden, and Touker Suleyman—each of whom committed £10,000 to support the venture. The game they presented is set to become the first climate-focused GCSE title in the UK, fully aligned with the Department for Education’s Natural Sciences curriculum. The development involves collaboration with researchers from leading institutions including the University of Oxford, University College London, and the University of Liverpool, and benefits from partial funding from Innovate UK’s Design for Net Zero initiative.

El Saie expressed her delight over the unexpected response from the investors, highlighting Meaden’s enthusiasm for the educational impact and Davies’ personal connection as a parent. Suleyman plans to contribute by aiding the creation of branded merchandise to support the company’s growth. Brainspark Games focuses on creating culturally inclusive and neurodiverse-friendly learning experiences across subjects ranging from English to biology.

With the new investment, Brainspark aims to fast-track the production of additional titles tailored for primary and International GCSE students. The startup’s mission is to make learning accessible and enjoyable for children of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Their research reveals that while 35% of children are disengaged from traditional learning methods, over 91% of UK children regularly play games, indicating strong potential for game-based learning to enhance education
