Police have identified the 13-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in a house fire in Kent shortly after Christmas as Lily Childs. The incident took place on 28 December in White Admiral Way, Hamstreet, near Ashford. The fire broke out just after midday, rapidly spreading through the semi-detached residence. At the peak of the emergency, six fire crews were actively involved in tackling the blaze.
In addition to Lily Childs, another child and an adult required hospital treatment following the fire. Three firefighters who attended the scene also sustained minor injuries. Authorities have indicated that there are no suspicious circumstances related to the cause of the fire.
Following the tragedy, Ann Millington, chief executive of Kent Fire and Rescue Service, expressed her sympathy to all those impacted by the incident. She noted that a volunteer response team had been deployed to provide welfare and support to the fire crews. Furthermore, a welfare hub was established at Hamstreet Village Hall to offer assistance to the local community.
