In Glasgow, a significant drugs operation resulted in the arrest of two men following the recovery of illicit substances valued at £10 million. The seizure involved a substantial amount of cocaine and heroin, which were confiscated during a police raid on Balintore Street in the Shettleston district. The individuals taken into custody are 43 and 22 years old and are expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
This action is part of a series of major drug seizures across Scotland in December, adding to a record-breaking week where authorities recovered nearly £14 million worth of narcotics nationwide. Police Scotland emphasized the scale of the operation, highlighting it as one of the largest drug recoveries ever recorded in the country.
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston commented on the success of the raids, saying, “This is one of the largest drugs recoveries ever made in Scotland and comes off the back of a number of other major seizures throughout December.” He also stressed the importance of community assistance in these efforts, stating, “Information from the public is the lifeblood which helps us recover illegal drugs and to identify those involved in their supply.”
