A significant fire erupted at a harbour in Fife, resulting in the destruction of several heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). The emergency services responded promptly after receiving a call at around 09:20, dispatching seven fire crews to Harbour View in Methil to tackle the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, despite the fire spreading to multiple vehicles.
The fire has now been successfully extinguished, and Police Scotland confirmed that the incident was not caused deliberately. Authorities have ensured the area is safe following the event. They also stated that there was no evidence of criminal activity linked to the fire.
During the height of the fire, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service warned of dense smoke in the vicinity and advised people to stay away from the harbour. Additionally, nearby residents were urged to keep their windows and doors closed to avoid the impact of the thick smoke billowing into the sky.
Access to Harbour View and South Street was temporarily restricted due to the incident, though these roads have since reopened.
