A man in his 30s remains in hospital in a critical but stable state after suffering head and facial injuries from a serious assault in Omagh, County Tyrone. The victim was discovered by a police patrol on Main Street at approximately 01:00 GMT on Sunday, according to a statement from Detective Sergeant Johnston of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
During the initial police interaction, the victim’s condition worsened rapidly. Officers immediately administered CPR at the scene before he was transported to hospital for urgent medical treatment. In connection with the incident, an 18-year-old male was detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
Detective Sergeant Johnston indicated that the assault is believed to have taken place within the gated area of Main Street. Authorities have called on any witnesses or individuals with CCTV, dash-cam, or other relevant video evidence that could aid the investigation to come forward and assist with inquiries.
The teenager who was arrested continues to be held in police custody as the investigation is ongoing. The PSNI is actively seeking information to determine the full circumstances surrounding this serious assault
