Engineers have successfully fixed a burst water main in Fife that disrupted the water supply to approximately 1,000 households. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in Kennoway, where a specialized team worked through the night and completed the repairs by 16:00 the following day. Scottish Water, the publicly owned utility responsible for the work, acknowledged the complexity of the repair, which took longer than initially expected.
During the repair, Scottish Water deployed specialist equipment such as large capacity pumps to remove significant amounts of surface water, allowing the team to access and fix the damaged pipe. The company also responded to requests for bottled water, giving priority assistance to customers registered on its Priority Services Register to ensure their needs were met during the disruption.
Although the water supply has been restored, some customers might experience low water pressure or notice discoloured water for a short period. Scottish Water advised residents to run only the cold water tap in their kitchen at a reduced flow until the water clears. They assured that any cloudiness in the water should resolve within 24 to 48 hours and thanked the affected community for their patience during the repair process.
For ongoing updates and further guidance, Scottish Water has provided a dedicated webpage to support customers during the recovery from this incident. The utility continues to prioritize customer care while working to maintain reliable water services throughout the region
