Two more arrests after Heathrow 'pepper spray' robbery

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the arrest of two additional individuals linked to a robbery incident at Heathrow Airport, where 21 people sustained injuries believed to be caused by pepper spray. A 24-year-old man was taken into custody in Lambeth on charges of robbery and assault, while a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both remain in police custody as the investigation continues.

This development follows a violent occurrence at the multi-storey car park near Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the assault, two women were reportedly robbed of their suitcases just after exiting a car park lift. Among those injured was a three-year-old girl, and five people were hospitalized but have since been released after receiving treatment.

Earlier, officers detained a 31-year-old man close to the scene on suspicion of robbery and assault. However, he has been released under investigation while inquiries are ongoing. The police were initially alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports surfaced that several individuals had been affected by a noxious substance suspected to be pepper spray.

The Metropolitan Police have emphasized that the incident is isolated and is not being treated as a terrorism-related event. The attack led to disruption, including train delays and the temporary partial closure of both the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park, though these closures were only for a short duration
