A 68-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the 2005 murder investigation of Lisa Dorrian. Ms. Dorrian, who was 25 years old at the time, was last seen just after midnight on 28 February in Ballyhalbert, County Down. The authorities revealed that the suspect is being questioned not only for murder but also for additional charges including assisting offenders, withholding information, and preventing a lawful and decent burial.
Lisa Dorrian disappeared following a house party held at a caravan park in the village of Ballyhalbert. She was last observed around 5:00 GMT on the morning of 28 February 2005. Items belonging to her, including her handbag, were found at the location of the party. Despite numerous searches both on land and at sea, no trace of her body has ever been discovered.
Since the investigation began, nine individuals have been arrested under suspicion of involvement in Ms. Dorrian’s murder. However, none of those arrested have been convicted, and the case remains unresolved more than a decade later. The ongoing inquiries reflect police efforts to bring closure to this long-standing mystery.
