A teenage boy is currently in critical condition after being shot on London Road in Sheffield. The 16-year-old was discovered injured at approximately 17:15 GMT on Monday and was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the incident.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 26-year-old man was detained by Police Scotland in Aberdeen on Saturday night on suspicion of attempted murder. Alongside him, a 23-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Earlier in the week, two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, faced arrest on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder but have since been released on bail.
In addition, a 40-year-old man who was taken into custody earlier this week on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been released on bail. Detective Chief Inspector Emma Knight from South Yorkshire Police shared that officers are continuing their reassurance patrols in the area around London Road to support the local community.
Addressing the gravity of the case, Det Ch Insp Knight expressed, “This incident understandably caused a lot of concern and heartache in the local communities and our thoughts remain with the child’s family.” She added, “He is 16 years of age and should have been looking forward to his future but now, his life has been put on pause as he remains in a critical condition following this horrific act of violence.” Police are urging anyone who may have information related to the shooting to come forward and assist the investigation
