Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Cunard Building Tours Now On Sale

This winter presents a unique chance to join exclusive guided tours of the Cunard Building, one of Liverpool’s famous Three Graces. This Grade II* listed structure, renowned for its maritime and architectural significance, will welcome visitors for a limited series of heritage tours scheduled from late November through December 2025.

Tours cost £15 per person and will take place on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Small groups of up to 15 people will be led by Liverpool’s heritage specialists, who will provide access to parts of the Cunard Building rarely open to the public. Highlights include the historic basement, once a hub of busy operations; the atmospheric former Arrivals Lounge; and the sophisticated Board Rooms that date back to the golden era of transatlantic voyages.

Participants will gain insight into the stories of notable shipping figures, admire intricate architectural features, and learn about the building’s significant role in Liverpool’s identity as a global maritime city. The tours are scheduled on the following dates and times: 30 November with sessions at 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, and 3pm; additionally, tours are available from 4 to 7 December, 11 to 14 December, and 18 to 21 December, with the same daily session times.

For those interested in private tours, arrangements can be made by contacting the heritage team directly. Councillor Harry Doyle, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, described the tours as “an incredible opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at one of Liverpool’s most important landmarks,” emphasizing the Cunard Building’s integral part in the city’s iconic skyline. Alan Smith, Head of Heritage in Liverpool, added, “The Cunard Building is an icon of our waterfront, and these tours offer a rare opportunity to explore its hidden spaces, learn about its remarkable story, and experience the legacy of the Cunard Line in a completely new way.”
