Body found in Brian Wright disappearance as police suspect murder-suicide

Authorities have recovered a body while investigating the disappearance of 82-year-old Brian Wright. Nottinghamshire Police responded to a farm near the A1133 in Langford on Saturday morning after the remains of a 52-year-old man were found. The deceased is believed to be Charles Wright, Brian’s son.

Officials stated that the death is not currently being treated as suspicious; however, it is thought to be connected to Brian Wright’s disappearance. Further developments revealed that another body was discovered on Tuesday in a field close to Danethorpe, prompting the case to be considered a suspected murder-suicide.

Police have clarified that no other individuals are being sought in relation to these fatalities, nor in connection with a separate hit-and-run incident that occurred on Gainsborough Road in Winthorpe earlier on Saturday. Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow expressed sympathy for the family, stating: “This is clearly a deeply tragic case, and we are continuing to support family members at this extremely difficult time.”

She also requested that the media and public respect the family’s privacy during this challenging period. DCI Burrow extended thanks to those who helped circulate appeals to find Brian and praised the professionalism of the search teams involved. The police confirmed that post-mortem examinations and formal identifications will be conducted soon, with a coroner’s file to follow
