Authorities have charged a man following a series of three interconnected house fires in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, a town in Leicestershire. The incidents occurred within a narrow timeframe early on Friday morning, prompting a rapid emergency response.
The first fire was reported at 07:05 GMT on Holywell Avenue, followed shortly by another blaze at Prestop Drive at 07:08, and a third at Clifton Drive at 07:19. Emergency services quickly attended all three locations, recognizing the fires as linked events.
Among those affected, two teenagers and one woman were hospitalized due to burn wounds and smoke inhalation. Fortunately, officials confirmed that the injuries sustained were neither life-threatening nor life-altering.
Leicestershire Police revealed on Sunday that a 50-year-old man has been formally charged with dangerous driving as well as three counts of arson with intent to endanger life. He has been remanded in custody ahead of a scheduled appearance at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Monday
