A pre-inquest review has described the death of a fan at an Oasis concert held at Wembley Stadium as a “tragic accident.” Lee Claydon, aged 45 and from Bournemouth, was known to his family by his middle name, Clive. He fell from an upper level at the conclusion of the performance on 2 August. At Barnet Coroner’s Court, Detective Sergeant James Raffin from the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the case was no longer being treated as criminal.
Detective Sergeant Raffin explained, “We do not suspect any third party involvement. This, from everything we have seen, was a tragic accident.” Although Mr Claydon had been consuming alcohol, toxicology reports indicated there were “no concerns.” Additionally, the police investigation found no evidence to suggest suicide was involved.
The detective concluded the police inquiry was complete but acknowledged the family’s ongoing concerns about the events of that night. He assured that he would communicate these issues to officials at Brent Council. Mr Claydon, a father of three, was pronounced dead at a Wembley medical centre at 22:38 BST. The preliminary cause of death was recorded as “multiple bodily injuries.”
The fall occurred during Oasis’s series of stadium shows for their sell-out Live ’25 reunion tour, their first since the band split in 2009. Expressing their sorrow, Oasis released a statement saying, “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show.” Paying tribute, Mr Claydon’s father described his son as “a lovely bloke” and “a hard-working family man.” Senior Coroner Andrew Walker announced that the full inquest is scheduled for 26 February
