Girl, 11, from Helensburgh, dies in unexplained circumstances

An 11-year-old girl from Helensburgh has passed away under unexplained circumstances after falling ill. The young girl was a student at Hermitage Academy and was admitted to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow on Sunday. Unfortunately, she died the following day.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of her death. Police Scotland confirmed that the incident is being treated as unexplained, with inquiries continuing to determine the details surrounding the case. A spokesperson stated, “Around 11:40 on Monday 17 November we received a report of an 11-year-old girl taken unwell in the Helensburgh area. She had been taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow on Sunday 16 November, and died on Monday 17 November.”

In response to the tragic event, Argyll and Bute Council expressed their deep sorrow and assured that support is being offered to those affected. A council spokesperson said, “We are devastated to hear about the death of one of our pupils who attended Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this awful time. We are providing ongoing support to their family along with staff and pupils at the school.”
