King officially strips Andrew of prince title

The recent publication in The Gazette officially declares King Charles III’s decision to strip his brother, Andrew, of his titles. The UK’s official public record showcases the removal of Andrew’s prince and Duke of York titles, which became effective upon the announcement last Thursday. The King’s move comes after intensive scrutiny surrounding the former prince’s connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to The Gazette, the Royal Warrant revoked the dukedom, while a legal instrument known as Letters Patent removed Andrew’s prince status. The entry in The Gazette reveals the King’s decision to no longer recognize Andrew Mountbatten Windsor as ‘Royal Highness’ and ‘Prince,’ using a Letters Patent sealed with the Great Seal of the Realm.

Following the decision, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Andrew would vacate his Royal Lodge residence in Windsor due to the ongoing controversy surrounding his association with Epstein. It was reported that Andrew accepted the King’s choice to eliminate his titles, becoming Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. In October, he relinquished his other royal titles, including the Duke of York, amidst increased scrutiny and allegations regarding his personal life.

Earlier this year, leaked emails indicated that Andrew maintained communication with Epstein longer than initially disclosed.
