Rob Anderson, research director for the Centre for London, noted that the Elizabeth line has expanded the city’s boundaries by improving transport links to previously underserved areas. Slough has witnessed a surge in interest from renters, including families and middle-aged couples. While rent rises have been more modest in eastern areas like Brentwood, the overall effect of the Elizabeth line, coupled with changing working patterns during the Covid-19 pandemic, has reshaped housing dynamics in suburban regions.
Despite the undeniable influence of the Elizabeth line on rental prices, other factors like flexible working arrangements have also played a significant role in the housing market’s evolution. The report from TfL and the Department for Transport highlighted the newfound attractiveness of peripheral Elizabeth line stations, fueled by improved connectivity and shifting work setups.
