Socialite and campaigner Lady Annabel Goldsmith, known for the iconic 1960s London nightclub bearing her name, has passed away at the age of 91. Mother to six children from two marriages, including her son Zac who served as a Conservative MP and ran for mayor of London in 2016, Lady Annabel leaves behind a legacy that her youngest child Ben described as “quite simply irreplaceable.”

Describing his profound loss, Ben Goldsmith expressed that while his mother led an extraordinary and fulfilled life, her absence has left an immense void in their lives. Lady Annabel, who was a pivotal figure in London nightlife with her eponymous nightclub Annabel’s, was adored by her family, with Mr. Goldsmith emphasizing the deep bond he shared with his mother over 45 years.

Born Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart in 1934 to an Anglo-Irish aristocratic family, Lady Annabel assumed the title of Lady Annabel in 1949 following her father’s elevation to Marquess. Her life was intertwined with glamour, aristocracy, and influential circles, exemplified by her marriages to hospitality mogul Mark Birley and later to financier Sir James Goldsmith, with whom she raised three more children.

Lady Annabel’s dedication to various causes, from animal charities to supporting children impacted by HIV/AIDS in South Africa, solidified her as a devoted advocate.
