Paul Mosley: Mick Philpott accomplice who killed six in fire dies

A tragic incident that shook the community has resurfaced as one of the individuals involved has passed away. Paul Mosley, who was convicted for his role in a house fire that resulted in the deaths of six children in Derby, has died earlier this month. The children, Jade Philpott, John, Jack, Jesse, Jayden, and Duwayne, lost their lives in the blaze that occurred in May 2012.

Mick and Mairead Philpott, along with their friend Paul Mosley, were found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced in April 2013. The trial revealed that Mick Philpott started the fire in an attempt to frame his live-in mistress and gain custody of her children. However, the plan went terribly wrong, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives.

During the trial at Nottingham Crown Court, it was disclosed that Mosley’s involvement in the fire was not entirely clear. The jury heard that he aided in removing petrol containers from the scene, indicating his willingness to assist in the crime. His actions contributed to the horrifying ordeal that the children were subjected to on that fateful day.

Despite being released on parole in 2021, Mosley was sent back to prison the following year for violating the terms of his release. He was ultimately granted parole again in 2023. Mairead Philpott, who was sentenced to 17 years in prison, was released on licence in 2020, while Mick Philpott received a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years
