Rangers Football Club has announced the departure of Russell Martin as head coach after overseeing 17 matches. The decision was made due to the team’s failure to meet expectations and achieve desired results during the transitional period. Martin’s final game in charge was a 1-1 draw against Falkirk, after which he had to be escorted away from the stadium amidst protests from fans.
The 39-year-old faced significant criticism from supporters of the club as Rangers struggled at the start of the season. Following Martin’s departure, assistant Matt Gill and first-team coach Mike Williamson will also be leaving the club. The statement released by Rangers expressed gratitude for the efforts of the departing staff and hinted at future updates to be provided by the club. This will mark the fourth managerial change for Rangers in 2025, as they seek a new leader to guide the team towards success and restore confidence among players and fans
