Sky Roberts, the brother of Virginia Giuffre, has emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation into the Duke of York over allegations of sexual abuse towards his sister. Regardless of one’s status, Roberts stressed that every individual should be held fully accountable under the law, as he expressed during the Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg programme.
Giuffre, a notable victim of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, disclosed in 2001, at the age of 17, that she was introduced to Prince Andrew by Epstein and subsequently experienced sexual abuse from the prince on three occasions. Despite the prince denying any wrongdoing, he reached a settlement with Giuffre in 2022 that included no admission of guilt or apology.
Following inquiries for comment from BBC News, Prince Andrew, who retreated from royal responsibilities in 2019 due to the Epstein scandal, faced criticism for not facing adequate consequences. Roberts voiced his dissatisfaction with the prince’s current circumstances, advocating for a comprehensive investigation to be conducted and, if proven guilty, for his imprisonment for life. Mrs. Roberts joined her husband in asserting that the Royal Family had not extended any support to their family during these trying times.
Moreover, the couple also raised concerns about Lord Mandelson’s appointment as the UK ambassador to the United States, deeming it inappropriate given his connections to Epstein, as revealed in leaked emails.
