First sick children have left Gaza for UK – Cooper

A group of critically ill and injured Palestinian children are on their way to the UK to receive treatment through an operation coordinated by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Home Office, and Department of Health. While the exact number of children in the first group was not confirmed by Cooper, reports suggest that it includes between 30 and 50 Palestinian children who may be accompanied by their family members if needed.

Cooper emphasized the diplomatic efforts involved in helping these children leave Gaza, stating that the government is determined to assist both injured families and students seeking to start their courses this autumn. It’s worth noting that some Palestinian children had previously been brought to the UK for medical treatment through private initiatives like Project Pure Hope. However, this marks the first time the government has evacuated children through its own scheme during the conflict.

As the conflict continues to take its toll, efforts are being made to provide aid and support to those affected by the violence
