In an interview with Radio Times, Atack disclosed, “I’ve been sexually assaulted at work throughout my career, whether it’s on the actual set, or at a wrap party.” She did not delve into the specifics of these assaults but highlighted the need for a change in behavior on sets.

Atack praised the increasing use of intimacy coordinators, emphasizing that it signifies a shift in attitudes and demonstrates that people are listening. She mentioned feeling unsafe at times in the past and remarked that these professionals are instrumental in providing support for both men and women who may feel uncomfortable during intimate scenes. The actress expressed her interest in producing a documentary about intimacy coordinators, building on her previous work on online sexual harassment.

During a documentary in 2023 titled Emily Atack: Asking For It?, Atack revealed the disturbing reality of receiving explicit messages and images daily online. She expressed her desire to educate her young son on respecting women and understanding his self-worth to avoid falling prey to negative influences online. Atack also commended the series Adolescence on Netflix for shining a light on the harsh realities faced by many individuals.

Having risen to fame at the age of 17 in The Inbetweeners, Atack shared that she has experienced unwanted attention from a young age. Confronting her online abuse was described as a challenging ordeal, requiring therapy to address past traumas. Despite the difficulties, Atack is set to appear in the upcoming thriller The Rumour on Channel 5 later this month, showcasing her continued dedication to her craft
