West Belfast: Murder investigation after stabbing incident

A fatal stabbing incident in west Belfast on Thursday evening claimed the life of a man in his 30s. The tragic event occurred in the Mulberry Park area of Twinbrook around 20:15 BST. Following the incident, another man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently under police custody.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) is actively investigating the scene, with cordons in place as of Friday morning. Eyewitnesses mentioned that children were playing on the street at the time of the tragedy. The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) responded to a call at 20:15 and dispatched two emergency crews to the scene.

Sinn Féin MLA Danny Baker expressed shock and sadness within the local community, extending his thoughts and condolences to the deceased man’s family and friends. It was emphasized that speculation should be avoided to allow the police to conduct their investigations thoroughly. People Before Profit MLA Gerry Carroll shared his deep sorrow over the passing of a Twinbrook resident, stating that everyone deserves the fundamental right to feel secure in their own home during this difficult time.

SDLP councillor Paul Doherty also offered his condolences to the loved ones of the deceased individual and all those affected by the tragic incident.
