Two aircraft at Manchester Airport collided on the airfield, causing minor damage but no reported injuries. The incident occurred when two EasyJet planes clipped wings during taxiing at around 06:30 BST. Passengers on board both aircraft, which were heading to Paris and Gibraltar, have disembarked following the collision. Flights at the airport resumed after a brief suspension for a safety assessment revealed only minor damage to the planes.
Tynisha Chaudhry, a passenger on the Gibraltar-bound flight, described the collision as feeling like a car crash. She recounted how the entire plane shook upon impact. Emergency services, including multiple fire engines, responded to the scene, as passengers awaited further instructions on board. While some passengers remained calm, others, especially children and their parents, grew anxious before being allowed to return to the terminal.
An EasyJet spokesperson confirmed that the wing tips of the two aircraft made contact while taxiing to the runway. The affected planes returned to the stand to offload passengers, who were provided with refreshment vouchers as replacement aircraft were arranged for their flights.
