City’s markets offer welcomes new additions

Liverpool’s markets are gearing up for a vibrant August, with two new locations adding to the already bustling scene. The introduction of markets in Dovecot and Norris Green, alongside the regular community markets at Allerton Hall and Lark Lane, highlights the council’s dedication to enriching the market experience for locals and visitors alike.

In an effort to support local traders and create engaging marketplaces, Liverpool City Council is expanding its market offerings. New events in August include Liv Fest at Dovecot Park, featuring a variety of stalls selling products like cakes, woodwork, and clothing. Additionally, Norris Green Community Market will showcase around 20 stalls offering sweet treats, clothing, accessories, and community activities.

Returning markets in August include Lark Lane and Allerton Hall Farmers and Craft Market, providing shoppers with a diverse range of products and experiences. Liverpool City Council has developed a comprehensive market network, from weekly markets at Great Homer Street to seasonal markets at St George’s Hall, as well as pop-up markets in various community locations. The council is planning to invest £5 million to expand the offerings at Great Homer Street, enhancing the market environment for all.

Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture Health and Wellbeing, Councillor Harry Doyle, stated that the goal is to integrate markets creatively into community events across the city. By listening to feedback from traders and customers, the council aims to continuously innovate and cater to the evolving preferences of the community. The success of initiatives like Stanley Park Market and the introduction of pop-up markets demonstrate the council’s commitment to providing dynamic market experiences that resonate with residents and visitors
