Mike Huckabee: US ambassador to Israel says UK would have lost WW2 with Starmer as leader

The US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, has criticized UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s response to Israel’s Gaza City takeover plan. In a social media post, Huckabee suggested that the UK would have lost World War Two if Starmer had been the leader at the time. He questioned Starmer’s condemnation of Israel’s plans and compared it to historical events during World War Two.

Huckabee’s comments came after Starmer urged Israel to reconsider its decision to escalate its offensive in Gaza City. The UK Prime Minister’s statement was met with criticism from Huckabee, who mentioned the bombing of Dresden during World War Two. The United Nations’ human rights chief warned of the potential for more displacement and suffering due to further escalation. Germany has suspended arms exports to Israel in response to the military plan.

While some countries have condemned Israel’s actions, the US has not. President Donald Trump stated that the decision of occupying Gaza is up to Israel. Vice-President JD Vance refused to disclose whether the US government was aware of Israel’s plans. A meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy shed light on the US’s aim to stop Hamas attacks and address humanitarian issues in Gaza. Netanyahu and the Israel Defense Forces have outlined principles for ending the war, including disarmament of Hamas and the return of Israeli hostages
