Scottish Secretary attacks 'snobby' Edinburgh council over Oasis comments

During a conversation with comedian Matt Forde at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Murray likened the comments to the alcohol ban at football matches, which he also labeled as “snobby.” Oasis kicked off their tour in Cardiff on 4 July and will be playing three nights at Murrayfield, marking their first show in the city since 2009.

The safety meeting involved City of Edinburgh Council, promoters DF Concerts, security firm G4S, Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service, and transport providers like Lothian Buses, Edinburgh Trams, and ScotRail. Concerns were raised about Oasis fans on weekends being “rowdy” and the tone of the band. DF Concerts suggested the audience would be “energetic and high-spirited” with “medium to high intoxication.”

Murray, who is the Labour MP for Edinburgh South, criticized the council’s description, stating that it sounded like a full council meeting.
