Conor McGregor: MMA fighter loses appeal in civil rape case

Conor McGregor has been unsuccessful in his civil jury appeal regarding a ruling that he sexually assaulted a woman. In November, McGregor was ordered to pay £206,000 in damages plus costs to Nikita Hand, who accused him of raping her in a hotel in Dublin in 2018. McGregor’s friend, James Lawrence, also lost his appeal despite being found not guilty of assaulting Nikita Hand. Hand alleged that both McGregor and Lawrence raped her, with the defendants claiming the encounters were consensual.

Following the court’s decision, Nikita Hand expressed gratitude for the support she received during the civil proceedings. She voiced that the appeal had retraumatized her, forcing her to relive the events repeatedly. Hand encouraged other survivors not to remain silent, emphasizing the importance of being heard and seeking justice. With the appeal dismissed, she looks forward to moving on and beginning the healing process, appreciative of the opportunity to do so
